Safe Gas Equipment Scheme

In terms of the Pressure Equipment Regulations (PER), SAGA has been mandated by the Department of Labour as the Verifying Authority for NG and LP Gas industrial equipment in conformance with the SANS 329 and 347 specifications which ensures SAGA with the mandate to oversee all industrial gas related equipment that is supplied within South Africa.

The Council was created out of an outspoken need in the Methane Based Industry to have a transparent, non-biased, non-competitive, approachable body for Safety and Technical queries. The body was established on 20 September 2016, under guidance of the Southern African Gas Association (SAGA) and interested parties involved in the industry.
